How do I leverage design thinking in products I design?

01. Product Strategy & Research

The first step is to familiarize myself with the product vision and strategy. As a product designer, I need to understand “the big picture” of the product. Conducting stakeholder interviews, competitive analysis, and user research including interviews and creating personas helps to establish a good understanding about the product and its users.

02. User Experience & Interaction Design

Information architecture helps to structure the user flow in a way that the users can find what they are looking for easily without having to go in circles. defining problems and gathering enough data helps to frame all evidence we need for ideation. The user flow and journey can be created through low fidelity interactions at this phase.

3. User Interface Design & Prototyping

The look and feel of a product is very important. Clear and nice UI can always improve the user experience and satisfaction. Designing high fidelity wireframes and interactive prototyping can be used for both user testing and communicating the design to the engineering teams

4. Usability Testing & Iteration

User testing is an important phase in a product design process because it gives us the opportunity to evaluate and validate our ideas with the users. At this stage, we’ll be able to gain deep information about our users’ behavioral patterns, preferences and suggestions, incorporate them in our design.
